About Us
Founded in 1997, Central New York Ghost Hunters Inc. (CNYGH) is one of the largest and oldest paranormal research groups in the state of New York.
We are centrally located in Syracuse, NY, and our current members come from all over the southern and upstate New York regions.
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about the paranormal and giving back to our community. We approach paranormal investigations and research with practicality, seeking answers to questions about the unknown with open minds and firmly planted feet. The beliefs of our members range from skeptical to die-hard believers. We’re a diverse group of researchers with varying levels of education and experience, and we welcome open, respectful conversations about all manner of paranormal subjects.
Investigations
Over the years, we’ve investigated hundreds of local, regional, and famous locations.
We can help businesses investigate paranormal activity. We don’t investigate private homes. We also investigate historic places and hold local public paranormal events! Keep an eye out for events here or on our Facebook page.
Membership
Our group membership includes a board of directors, officers, and regular group members. We are not an open-membership group. When we begin accepting new members, we typically do so by offering training classes to potential members, followed by an application and evaluation process. Keep an eye on our events to find out when we have more classes.
Giving Back
We believe in preserving and respecting our history. As part of our educational mission, we engage in philanthropic efforts to support local and regional non-profit organizations and historic sites. We hold fundraising events, lectures, and ghost hunts, and we donate our time and labor or supplies. See our Testimonials below for some kind words of praise from venues of our past efforts. Our events almost always sell out fast. See our Facebook Reviews from attendees! If you would like to engage us to hold a fundraising event or lecture, please contact us!
In the Media
CNYGH has been in the local news, on local radio, and on paranormal TV shows such as Ghost Hunters and A Haunting. Members have spoken at paranormal conferences such as Phenomenology in Gettysburg, PA.
